Academic Health Systems under Fire: ‘Surthrival’ of the Fittest

Steven D. Shapiro, MD, professor of medicine, School of Medicine, and of clinical and translational science, will deliver a Provost’s Inaugural Lecture, “Academic Health Systems under Fire: ‘Surthrival’ of the Fittest,” at 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, in Lecture Room 6, Scaife Hall.

The Provost’s Inaugural Lecture series invites University of Pittsburgh faculty members to give a lecture marking their recent appointments to endowed chairs and distinguished status. Dr. Shapiro is Distinguished Professor of Medicine and former chair of the Department of Medicine, School of Medicine. He is also executive vice president, chief medical and scientific officer, and president of the Health Services Division, UPMC.

A reception with light refreshments will follow the talk.
