Big Data Analysis and Genetic Liability to Schizophrenia

Panagiotis Roussos, MD, PhD
Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry, & Genetics and Genomic Sciences
Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai
November 28, 2016 - 12:00pm

Dr. Panagiotis Roussos studies the genetic mechanisms through which risk genetic variants increase vulnerability for neuropsychiatric diseases, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and Alzheimer’s disease. To identify these mechanisms he uses advanced biostatistical methods to integrate high-dimensional data, such as genomic, epigenomic and transcriptomic data. Among his many accolades, Dr. Roussos recently received the Presidential Early Career Awards for Scientists and Engineers from President Obama, and is the Principal Investigator of three grants funded by the NIA, NIMH and VA.
