"What’s The Matter With Science?"

It seems that every few months a crisis is found in science, and mishandled statistics and experimentation is often seen as the culprit. Many fingers are pointing at “p-hacking” – choosing analyses that generate a p-value that meets the “.05” gold standard. Others blame publishing standards or the very concept of p-value itself. Others, more apocalyptically, are claiming the scientific process itself is broken. Ultimately, some are raising the question the validity of science as a whole and it’s ability to discern the truth. In this talk, we will discuss some examples of these scientific crises and what some scientists are doing to change the way we do our work.
