It remains poorly understood how large-scale brain networks and their interactions develop from children to adults, and how they support maturation of cognitive functions.  In this talk, I will first discuss the development of the intrinsic functional organization of the brain from children to adults. I will then present evidence that the development of episodic memory is supported by dynamic interplay of distributed networks in the brain. Finally, I will discuss some results on using brain connectivity measures to predict individual differences in learning. Together these studies highlight the importance of understanding network dynamics that underlie learning and memory during development.
