George Fechter

Mr. George Fechter is a community leader and entrepreneur who manages Fechter Holdings, a portfolio of investments in privately held companies involved in engineering and contracting services and health care information technologies. He is also chairman of the board of directors of BOSS Controls LLC. Founded in 2012, BOSS Controls designs, markets, and sells WiFi product solutions for commercial and residential use that are intended to transform the clients’ energy usage and bottom line.

Active as a volunteer in the community for years, Mr. Fechter currently serves as chairman of the board of the Eye and Ear Foundation of Pittsburgh, and he is an advisory council member for the Louis J. Fox Center for Vision Restoration, the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine, and the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. A man of experience, ideas, and entrepreneurial spirit, Mr. Fechter’s guest lecture at Carnegie Mellon University inspired students Atila Omer and Bryan Kaplan, who started Collaborative Fusion, Inc. The company was bought in 2011 by Intermedix Corporation, which developed software used to direct first responders at disaster scenes. Mr. Fechter has also served as a mentor to students in CMU’s Accelerator program of the Donald H. Jones Center for Entrepreneurship. 

Mr. Fechter received his bachelor’s degree from Valparaiso University and holds an MA and MBA from Duquesne University. In 2001, Mr. Fechter was honored for demonstrating leadership through community service by nonprofit organization Vectors/Pittsburgh as the “Pittsburgh Technology Man of the Year.” He also has been awarded  an honorary doctorate from Concordia College in Bronxville, New York. He lives in Pittsburgh.
