Postdoctoral Position - Lab of Rebecca Seal, PhD, Department of Neurobiology (Basal Ganglia Circuits)

The Seal lab in the Department of Neurobiology at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a postdoctoral fellow who will become part of a large, vibrant, multidisciplinary, and internationally recognized neuroscience community.

The goals of the work are to understand how striatal plasticity shapes motor output in Parkinson's disease and to use the information to develop novel therapeutic strategies. The work stems from findings reported in Divito et al (2015) J. Neurosci. 35(45): 12983-12999                                                                

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to use the latest in optogenetics and chemogenetics together with in vitro and in vivo electrophysiology, cyclic voltammetry, behavior as well as viral gene therapy.

A PhD in Neuroscience or related field within the past 0-2 years, with a track record of productivity is required.  Scientists that are ambitious and energetic with excellent communication skills are encouraged to apply.  Patch clamp electrophysiology experience is a plus.

Creative thinking skills, command of the neuroscience literature, affinity for performing experimental animal research and ability to work collaboratively with excellent communication skills are desired.
