The successful candidate will join a large, multidisciplinary, collaborative, and translational, internationally recognized neuroscience and psychiatry academic/clinical community.

Research Principal or Associate position is available in the Department of Psychiatry in the School of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh (Pittsburgh, PA). The laboratory investigates the role of circadian rhythms in psychiatric disorders, particularly mood and addiction disorders, using human tissue and animal models. The new investigator is well-funded by foundation, internal, and NIH grants and awards, who is building their laboratory for a successful future. The candidate will be joining a growing collaborative and supportive research group composed of undergraduates, PhD and medical students, and other research and postdoctoral associates.

The candidate for the position must have experience and/or expertise with most of the following techniques: PCR, quantitative RT-PCR, Western blotting, co-immunoprecipitation, chromatin immunoprecipitation, cloning, cell culture, shRNA (siRNA) design, viral packaging, brain stereotaxic viral-mediated gene transfer, optogenetics, immunohistochemistry, microscopy, CRISPR/Cas9, etc.

Candidates with experience with most or many of these techniques are encouraged to apply. We are particularly interested in eager, motivated, and passionate candidates who genuinely enjoy translational science.

Master's degree preferred in biochemistry, molecular biology, and/or neuroscience, with 0-2 years of appropriate research experience in academic or industry setting. Also, applicants with appropriate expertise and BS degrees in biochemistry, molecular biology, and/or neuroscience with 1-3 years of experience.
